HMRC announce extension for Offshore Disclosure registration

HMRC announced today that the closing date for registering under the latest Offshore Disclosure initiative has been extended from 30 November 2009 to 4 January 2010.

The HMRC news release states that the reason is to allow banks more time to contact customers. The actual disclosure deadlines (31 Janaury 2010 for paper submissions and 12 March 2010 for electronic submissions) remain unchanged.

The move is to be welcomed, not least because of the number of individuals contemplating using the disclosure facility, who may need guidance on potential non-domicile status first.

We are able to assist with all aspects of the disclosure facility, or indeed domicile status, should that need to be clarified beforehand. Please contact us for further information
