Graeme Fisher

Graeme is a tax specialist with over 40 years experience dealing with tax enquiries and investigations on individuals and businesses ranging from small to medium sized enterprises to large multinational company groups.

During his HMRC career he was a District Inspector of Taxes, a Group Controller responsible for the performance of a large group of tax offices with 1800 staff and was a Director in the Large Business Service where he had extensive experience in leading teams dealing with the tax affairs of large multi national companies involving complex international tax planning, transfer pricing, investigation and high level tax technical issues. He also had responsibility for the tax affairs of the UK Large Partnership Sector including all the top legal and accountancy firms in the UK.

He was also responsible for setting up the HMRC Media Sector and led much of the work in HMRC on developing a risk based approach to dealing with large corporates and partnerships and resolving issues in real time.

Since leaving HMRC in 2003 Graeme has been a consultant to Bridges and Partners LLP and to a number of other accountancy and legal firms specialising in tax planning issues and the resolution of tax disputes. He has advised many clients ranging from SME's to large corporates on tax risk areas and has represented clients in major tax investigations conducted by Local Offices, Special Civil Investigations and the Large Business Service. He also has in depth experience in representing clients at Appeal Tribunals involving Income and Corporation tax, CGT and the CIS Scheme.
 
Graeme is particularly experienced at the careful and thorough analysis of complex technical and investigation issues where his extensive knowledge of Statute and Case Law coupled with a thorough understanding of HMRC practise and procedure has enabled him to provide sound practical advice to clients in a clear and cogent way, or to represent them directly in negotiation with HMRC in relation to the disputed issue.   

Graeme has lectured on tax subjects both domestically in the UK and overseas at major accountancy and tax conferences in Europe, the USA and Australia.
