Scott Whitmore

Scott has a career spanning some 20 years in the tax and accountancy profession. Accumulating considerable experience dealing with owner-managed businesses, as well as various other specialist areas of taxation.

Scott started his professional career with a small local practice before moving onto Grant Thornton dealing with high net worth individuals and owner-managed businesses. He moved on to mid tier accountants, as the senior tax manager, dealing with issues relating to their clients. Scott has advised both owner-managers directly and their accountants on a wide range of compliance, planning and other technical areas.

In addition, he has several years experience of dealing with technical queries from accountants and tax advisors in a helpline format. One of his strengths in this area is being able to discuss technical matters with accountants in a manner that they understand, whether the subject matter is tax compliance or providing technical support in a dispute with H M Revenue & Customs.

Scott's experience extends to such diverse areas as:

  • Income Tax / Self Assessment
  • Property taxation
  • Capital Gains Tax
  • HMRC enquires
  • CIS
  • Corporation Tax
  • Capital Allowances

Scott is experienced at personal and business taxation, having dealt with both at compliance and consultancy level and his philosophy in advising in these areas is the same: to provide practical, useful advice which can be implemented in the simplest possible and most tax-efficient way.

One of his motivations behind joining PTC was to help provide support, particularly for accountants who do not have a dedicated tax team, with a support structure that allows them to provide the widest possible range of tax services to their clients, on a continuous basis.
